My Artist Story is unique
I started my work as a professional artist way back when as an actor and writer, I diversified in all creative directions to survive and live as an artist,I set up an actors co-operartive agency , maybe 35 years ago, too long to remember, still in existence, then my own Theatre and Arts in Education company Garbo Productions still going strong. I was given a much needed space for my arts practice Garbo ,in Rua Red Arts Centre Tallaght. I became socially engaged with extensive experience in Theatre, Educational and community contexts. I also wrote and performed on RTE television. Meanwhile,in 2018, I embarked on a life long ambition to study as a visual artist in the infamous creative establishment in Thomas Street NCAD. I went to school in the Liberties but did not have the opportunity to go to NCAD then, so many many years later, I fulfilled this dream and I graduated in 2025 with a BA in fine Art from the Dept. of Print. Much of the work you will see featured here is from my Graduation Show. With my visual Art, like every type of art I have ever created, I want to connect with people. I want to help give voice to their concerns. I want to creatively translate important messages. and use my art as a vehicle to provoke debate and open minds. I strive to support inclusivity, help break through prejudice and negative presumption, fight for equality, nuture ,faciliatate and inspire broadening of minds to help foster compassion.
I am multi-disciplined, using print making, painting, photography, photomontage, video, audio and installation with scultptural elements, theatricality is a feature in the blend. My native City of Dublin is one of my consistent muses, I have photographed, filmed, painted and recorded the city and its story in different ways. My work for ‘Your Move’ was a life size re imagining of the Dublin Monopoly Board. The full story of the concept for this installation featuring 32 photomontages digital prints of my original photographs of the City of Dublin can be seen here
